LONGYEARBYEN, Norway A “doomsday” seed vault built to protect millions of food crops from climate change, wars and natural disasters opened Tuesday deep within an Arctic mountain in the remote Norwegian archipelago of Svalbard.“The Svalbard Global Seed Vault is our insurance policy,” Norway’s Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg told delegates at the opening ceremony. “It is the Noah’s Ark for securing biological diversity for future generations.”

When the disciples asked Jesus about the end times, he said, “When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near.” (Luke 21:28) People are unwittingly preparing for the time when food will be scarce worldwide. Just as in ancient Egypt when Joseph was in charge of the grain storage in anticipation of a famine (Gen. 41:56), they will distribute these stored seeds, but at enormous cost. And this is only the beginning of the final judgments!
“As in the days of Noah” indeed!
