How to Study the Bible
- Remember why you want to study.
- Set aside time; make it a habit.
- Pray for understanding.
- Start with Jesus; he's how we know what's from God (recommend the First Read Gospel)
- Read through the passage, section, or chapter first.
- Ask questions. This is how we find the context:
- Who wrote this?
- When?
- Why?
- To whom?
- In what language or dialect?
- In what culture and time?
- What were their figures of speech?
- Make use of reference material such as those below.
